Pregnancy Care at Empower Movement
Pregnancy is one of the most physically demanding seasons a woman’s body will ever experience. But here’s the truth you don’t have to just “deal with it.” Preventive care during pregnancy can make a massive difference in how you feel now, how smooth your delivery goes, and how quickly you recover postpartum.
During a session with a pregnant patient, we work on:
We focus on what your body really needs to keep you moving, comfortable, and confident:
Pelvic alignment to reduce aches, pains, and keep your pelvic floor happy
Breath and rib cage mechanics (because as baby grows, ribs shift → breath changes → core/pelvic floor take the hit → issues like prolapse, leaking, and diastasis recti show up)
Core activation so your abs keep firing efficiently throughout pregnancy
Pelvic floor protection by reducing downward pressure where it matters most
Labor prep so you feel strong, ready, and in control
Pain relief for the back, hips, tailbone, and beyond
Foot support yes, your feet are under way more pressure don’t ignore them!
Our goal? To help you feel good in your body, reduce stress heading into labor, and set you up for a faster, smoother postpartum recovery. Women who feel in control of their bodies during birth have fewer traumatic experiences and better recoveries and that’s exactly what we want for you.
Real patients. Real results. Hear from them.
Common Pregnancy Conditions We Treat
-
Sharp front-of-pelvis pain that makes rolling in bed, stairs, loading your pelvis during a workout or walking unbearable. We rebalance the pelvis with manual therapy and give you exercises and strategies to keep it from coming back.
-
Pregnancy hormones loosen ligaments, creating SI joint instability and hip muscle weakness. As pregnancy weight is gained, your feet rotate outward to increase your base of support. This shortens the hip muscles, making them less effective. The end result is ultimately more pressure on bones/joints without effective shock absorption. But when treated we can take so much pressure off these joints.
-
Coccyx pain is pain in the tailbone area. Tailbone pain or soreness when sitting, especially if you’re leaning back or sitting on a hard surface. This particular pain is often caused by the tailbone getting “stuck” in the wrong position and it takes a special skill set to help the bone return to its pain-free home. (design note: could add in the image of RUNNER - tailbone release)
-
Leaking, pressure, pain, or tightness? These are signs your pelvic floor needs support to rebalance.
-
That heavy, “something is falling” feeling? Weak/stretched pelvic floor muscles can cause organs to drop into the vaginal canal. We help restore support and function.
-
Urinary and/or Fecal Frequency: Peeing more frequently than every 2 hours, waking at night to pee, or trouble starting your stream or emptying completely.
Stress Incontinence: Leaking pee or poo with jumping, coughing/sneezing, laughing
Urgency Incontinence: Leaking pee associated with urge to go
Mixed Incontinence: Having symptoms that are a mix of urge and stress incontinence. We’ve seen it all—and we can help.
-
Postural shifts, a growing belly, and muscle tension = nagging head and back pain. Manual therapy + corrective exercise can bring relief.
Pregnancy doesn’t have to be nine months of aches, pains, and peeing every 30 minutes.
We’ll help you move, breathe, and feel like yourself again; while preparing your body for the smoothest labor and recovery possible.
